Charnwood ‘bucks the trend’ in May Local Elections

Monday, 20 May, 2019

Compared with other areas locally and nationally Charnwood did very well in the May Local Elections.  Our thanks to all who voted or campaigned across our area.  Our then MP Ed Argar was delighted with the good results.

Of our 21 seats contested on Charnwood Borough our Councillors were successfully elected to all but one.  We only failed to retain East Goscote, which succumbed to a concerted onslaught by The Greens, despite 3 years of dedicated hard work and campaigning by our local candidate Kevin Preston.

Sadly of our 9 candidates for Blaby Council, 3 were unsuccessful.  Plus the two candidates who stood for the Groby (Hinckley & Bosworth Council) seat, were unable to unseat the existing Lib Dem incumbents.
